Out of the blue

There's a reason why it's one of the most popular colours in the aviation industry...

Isn’t blue such a great colour? A lot of people agree with us – a worldwide survey conducted by YouGov showed that blue is the most popular colour in 10 countries across four continents, and statistics show that 53% of world flags contain blue in their design.

Blue is described as an ascending colour which inspires a “lifting up” feeling. The colour triggers the release of calming hormones in the brain, making it considered to be the most productivity-inspiring colour we are aware of. It also has various meanings associated with peace, infinity, and etherealness. Maybe this is due to the vast areas of blue we see in nature: the sky and the sea?

As the colour of the sky, it’s no wonder that blue has become such a familiar colour to see in aircraft liveries and aviation branding. In fact, blue is the most common colour used in corporate identities across all industries. Most blues convey a sense of trust, loyalty, cleanliness, and understanding. It provides peace of mind and a sense of professionalism which conveys safety and security. Just think how much blue you see at airports.

Do you feel more comfortable when boarding a blue jet?  It is a staple colour for aircraft painting, and one of our favourites at MAAS Aviation too!
