Richard Marston, COO, speaks to EVA about painting planes
In the Spring 2026 edition of EVA, Richard Marston, CCO at MAAS Aviation highlights the importance of a painting team that can offer creative expertise while meeting the physical demands of aircraft painting.
“Business jet and VIP customers are typically looking for a mirror-like finish, with maximum visual impact in the areas the owner sees. The company assists where special design elements require expert input from its painters.”
Recently, at the company’s Alabama facility (which paints exclusively for MAAS’ OEM customer Airbus) a fully female paint team completed an aircraft for the first time in MAAS history.
“A typical MAAS painter resembles a ‘racing snake’. They are typically strong agile people. For some painting tasks, being of smaller stature is advantageous, and it seems like a job that ought to be attracting more women.”
